This sculpture developed and changed in creation. Originally I had the figure to be mounted on a blue dyed wood base as if wading through water, but I found this slate base and loved the idea of the female form rising from the black stone. As if ascending from a cold, hard, dark existence and rising to freedom, with whitened hair flowing freely behind her.
