One of my favourite projects is to create a sculpture from rejected offcuts, reclamation timber or stone, and sometimes even redundant old furniture. To take these unwanted, but beautiful, materials and give them a fresh start as a 'New Beginning' sculpture, is a really fulfilling passion.

These sculptures are for sale on a first come first served basis, I do not take orders on 'New Beginnings' as each piece is a spontaneous creation. If interested in purchasing one of these pieces, or have any questions, please email me on mjcrooksculptures@gmail.com

ETERNAL EMBRACE

Here I have used a piece of an unknown hardwood, which I acquired within a batch of no longer wanted off-cuts. The grain and colour tones that materialised as I sculpted this moebius design, based on a couple embracing, where a most welcome surprise. There can never be another one the same. It is set on a small scrap of bath stone which I have shaped and smoothed, this was heading  for landfill until I grabbed it.

FOREVER

I took a small offcut of poplar wood to Scotland when visiting family recently, and while there created this little, twisting sculpture which incorporates a moebius ring effect and so the piece appears to have just one side. A finger can be run round the surface forever. The base is a piece of marble.
